JUNO REVIEW: Club of Jacks have been previously spotted on labels like Plastik People and Blockhead, which should give you an idea of where their sound is pitched. This is classic house with a distinctive UK slant – the beats are up front and the bass is mighty strong. The subs on “Alright” just can’t be beaten, not least when peppered with other sound system garnishes that keep things ruff and tuff. “Raw Like 94” makes great use of a Lisa Stansfield sample for lyrical input, but once again the emphasis is on the weighty production. It’s a sound that carries through the B side too, providing you with four highly workable jams for the peak of the night.
